Maurits has been founded by Federico Giudiceandrea in 2010. The company owns one of the world’s largest collections of works by Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher and works by contemporary artists which are thematically related to Escher’s œuvre. The collection currently encompasses around 600 pieces that have already been exhibited in cities as Rome, Milano, Singapore, Madrid, Lisbon and New York. Together with the Dutch MC Escher Foundation and the Roman exhibition house Arthemisia, Maurits succeeds to recorded art exhibitions with visitor records. For each exhibition a catalog with the exhibited works as well as essays by Federico Giudiceandrea and his co-curators in the respective national languages is published and made available for sale.

With the idea to streamline, automate and optimise manufacturing processes by means of image processing, Federico Giudiceandrea has founded MiCROTEC Srl in Brixen/Bressanone. Today the company has become market leader in opto-electronic measurements for the wood processing industry.

Federico Giudiceandrea shares his passion for technology and innovation as Business Angel within the framework of Microtec and Maurits Srl. He supports young, motivated talents which are founding startups with both a financial aid and his know how as well as extensive experience.

  • The creative genius of Maurits Cornelis Escher comes to Catalonia for the first time thanks to Arthemisia, Evolucionarte and Museu Marítim de Barcelona, in collaboration with The M.C. Escher Foundation and with the support of the Barcelona City Council, the Barcelona Provincial Council and with the participation of RolDigital.

The exhibition is curated by Mark Veldhuysen, CEO of the M.C. Escher Company, and Federico Giudiceandrea, an Italian collector and expert on the artist.

The Escher exhibition, which hosts over 200 works, presents masterpieces from the artist’s surrealist period such as Hand with Reflecting Sphere, Bond of Union, Relativity and Belvedere.

This is the first major exhibition for the Sala Gran de las Drassanes in Barcelona and brings the city of Barcelona onto the international circuit of major exhibitions. Escher is hosted from the 29th of April in the spectacular Sala Grande of the Gothic complex of the Drassanes Reials de Barcelona, located at the end of La Rambla de Barcelona, next to the statue of Columbus and facing the sea.
